After returning from WWII, Henry R. Collins founded Collins Concrete Pipe Co., a small business producing concrete pipe for well casings and driveways. In 1962, his son Michael A. “Mac” Collins partnered with him to launch Collins Concrete Products, a manufacturer of precast concrete septic tanks.
By 1965, the company expanded into Collins Ready Mix Concrete, Inc., supplying concrete for both residential and commercial construction projects. Alongside ready-mix deliveries, the company operated dump trucks and tractor trailers hauling sand and gravel.
A major turning point came after supplying concrete for the construction of a Georgia Pacific plywood plant. That relationship led to the creation of Collins Trucking Co., Inc., incorporated to transport pine and hardwood logs to GP mills across Georgia—a contract that still continues today.
In 1992, Michael A. “Mike” Collins founded Collins Industries, Inc. and expanded operations to include log sorting, sawing, and transport under contract with Georgia Pacific. As the timber industry evolved, the company shifted its focus to transporting building products. Starting with a single truck and leased flatbed trailer, Collins Industries later acquired Jones Trucking in Griffin, GA, and in 2005, purchased Collins Trucking Co., Inc. outright.
Today, Collins Trucking Co. Inc, operates over 100 power units and runs flatbed and van trailers throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
Still guided by the original values instilled by founder Henry R. Collins, the team follows the family motto: “Can’t Never Could.” It’s more than a phrase—it’s a mindset that has shaped the company into the well-organized, family-run business it is today.
